If you follow the links on the report and ignore the heavily slanted “supposition” end of the broadcast, it comes down to all of the people involved were not fired and were reassigned to other duties plus a lot of the problems had to do with on the ground decisions and lack of funding.

And this is — to me, it’s deep. This has been a party, and particularly our entire political system, that’s lost the art of deliberative argument and then coming to conclusions. And to get elected, especially as a Republican, you have got to be anti-conservative, you have got to be radical, you have got to be revolutionary, you have got to be an outsider, your language has to be totally radical.
JUDY WOODRUFF: And we’re seeing that in the presidential race.
DAVID BROOKS: Right. And so if you adopt a radical rhetoric, then the normal practice of politics, which is compromise, which is accepting defeat for the greater good, all that stuff gets washed away.

A little skepticism can be a healthy thing, but this is not about skepticism this is about character assassination and it is being paid for by the American taxpayer and validated in the halls of congress.

Just read an article in Mother Jobes, questioning (as have others here) whether or not Webb is actually running for prez. If they are trying to stay under the radar for some reason, they have succeeded.
SC prepare. The water rose for weeks here after last spring’s flooding rains. It already looks much worse and more widespread there. Hope Sturgeon & Flatus are out of harm’s way/on high ground.
Maybe, in addition to keeping guns out of the hands of the unstable, we need to deal with the isolation, the lack of tools to deal with relationships, other outlets for overwhelming frustration and anger. Instead of horrible, violent TV shows devoted to unhealthy relationships, crime sprees, and, violent fantasies/zombies, etc., we should have shows that teach give-and-take in relationships, compassion, mentally healthy people. It’s a scientific principle: Garbage in, garbage out.

The Republican leaders of a House committee who have been in a bitter partisan battle with Democrats are enmeshed in a new fight with one of the committee’s former staff members.
A former investigator for the Republicans on the House Select Committee on Benghazi plans to file a complaint in federal court next month alleging that he was fired unlawfully in part because his superiors opposed his efforts to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the 2012 attack on the American diplomatic mission in the Libyan city rather than focus primarily on the role of the State Department and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The former investigator, Bradley F. Podliska, a major in the Air Force Reserve who is on active duty in Germany, also claims that the committee’s majority staff retaliated against him for taking leave for several weeks to go on active duty. If true, the retaliation would violate the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994, which Major Podliska plans to invoke in his complaint, according to a draft that was made available to The New York Times.
The case is now in a confidential mediation phase, limiting what the Republican-led staff can publicly say about the matter.

The American Religious Town Hall topic was about the responsibility of religious groups with regard to climate change.
There was only one dissenter as far as admitting to the science behind the human footprint accelerating the problem. He was a Baptist minister who, during his summation, admitted that his daughter was an “environmentalist” for a coal company, helping to “reclaim” land after it has been stripped of the resource in question to make it ready for resale to “anyone who could pay the price.”
The rabbi, the Catholic priest, the Seventh Day Adventist, the Episcopalian, and, the pastor from the Disciples of Christ all accepted the science. They all acknowledged the need for personal responsibility, as well as committal within their groups toward Earth-friendly actions. Some slready have programs in place, such as community gardens. Pretty interesting to listen to one of them talk about the rich man willful long ignoring the starving man living in squalor outside his gate. The, apparently, pro-fossil fuel Baptist was not the one telling that story.
And then there is Ben Carson, who despite his medical background, seems to shun science, not to mention common sense.
I suspect Hillary will get the nomination and I will be voting for her in the general, but not in the primary. I will give my honest opinion in the primary vote.
Hillary is no Obama. Please, she was and is so much more capable than Obama. He was an empty suit and Hillary was the better candidate in 2008. This time, I feel that Bernie is better than Hillary in relation to my views.

In Sunday evening’s Last Week Tonight, John Oliver went after the state of North Dakota, or as he called it, “south of Canada.” The state has been experiencing both a boom and bust thanks to an uptick in oil drilling and fracking. Boom because it’s making people a ton of money and reduces the dependency on foreign oil. A bust because it’s literally destroying the state and killing people.

IT IS tempting to focus on national polling, but it hardly tells the picture. What does is that beyond New Hampshire, where Bernie Sanders is solidly ahead, and Iowa, where Clinton still leads by 11, the next two states, Nevada and South Carolina, are setting up to bolster Hillary Clinton through her strengths with minority voters.

The Democratic debate on Tuesday comes after President Obama had a serious interview with Steve Kroft on “60 Minutes,” which revealed what will continue to wash over the Democratic candidates. The strength of President Obama’s continued leadership, as Americans listen to reports that Putin has flexed his considerably weaker geopolitical hand inside Syria and the Middle East, reflects on all the candidates, especially Hillary Clinton.
Steve Kroft: A year ago when we did this interview, there was some saber-rattling between the United States and Russia on the Ukrainian border. Now it’s also going on in Syria. You said a year ago that the United States– America leads. We’re the indispensible nation. Mr. Putin seems to be challenging that leadership.
President Barack Obama: In what way? Let– let’s think about this– let– let–
Steve Kroft: Well, he’s moved troops into Syria, for one. He’s got people on the ground. Two, the Russians are conducting military operations in the Middle East for the first time since World War II–
President Barack Obama: So that’s–
Steve Kroft: –bombing the people– that we are supporting.
President Barack Obama: So that’s leading, Steve? Let me ask you this question. When I came into office, Ukraine was governed by a corrupt ruler who was a stooge of Mr. Putin. Syria was Russia’s only ally in the region. And today, rather than being able to count on their support and maintain the base they had in Syria, which they’ve had for a long time, Mr. Putin now is devoting his own troops, his own military, just to barely hold together by a thread his sole ally. And in Ukraine–
Steve Kroft: He’s challenging your leadership, Mr. President. He’s challenging your leadership–
President Barack Obama: Well Steve, I got to tell you, if you think that running your economy into the ground and having to send troops in in order to prop up your only ally is leadership, then we’ve got a different definition of leadership. My definition of leadership would be leading on climate change, an international accord that potentially we’ll get in Paris. My definition of leadership is mobilizing the entire world community to make sure that Iran doesn’t get a nuclear weapon. And with respect to the Middle East, we’ve got a 60-country coalition that isn’t suddenly lining up around Russia’s strategy. To the contrary, they are arguing that, in fact, that strategy will not work.
Leadership, that’s the question for all the Democratic candidates on Tuesday.
When you look at what’s going on in the Republican party, especially in the House, the idea of leadership seems to be something different. Republicans are once again having an internecine war between the hard right who thinks governing has nothing to do with working with the majority of the country who doesn’t agree with you.
CNN has already said they’re not expecting the ratings Republicans get, which illustrates the differences in the primary race between the big two parties.
Democrats are trying to decide whether to go establishment or outsider, while Republicans can’t admit that the outsider who has been winning for months and months is someone most of the party doesn’t want to claim as their own.
Clinton, Sanders, O’Malley, Webb and Lessig will meet on Tuesday, but the only candidate right now with long and deep support is Hillary Clinton.
The composition of the CNN moderators will make for a different debate than when Jake Tapper steered the Republican debate. That is the wild card for Clinton. You just can’t know what Don Lemon will ask on any given day.”

“A quarter of her May supporters abandoned her over the summer, but she also picked up nearly half that many voters from her rivals. Moreover, a large majority of Mrs. Clinton’s supporters, 75 percent, stuck with her throughout the summer despite the rising popularity of Senator Bernie Sanders and the potential candidacy of Vice President Joe Biden.
Of the nearly 700 Democrats in the survey, 73 percent stuck with their initial choices over the summer, and 23 percent shopped around at least once. Mrs. Clinton was not alone in holding on to her early fans. Mr. Sanders kept 85 percent of his May voters, and Mr. Biden maintained 72 percent of his supporters. Of course, Mrs. Clinton started with many more voters than the others, and Mr. Biden has not yet said if he will enter the race. Voters may start to shift around more if Mr. Biden jumps in or after they see the candidates up close in Tuesday’s prime-time debate.”
